The 2018 CrossFit Games were outstanding and the most competitive and exciting yet! What was also super cool is that we saw 6 different countries finishing on the Individual Men’s and Women’s podiums. Here’s a little about the first, second and third 2018 Reebok Fittest on Earth Individual athletes.
Fittest on Earth Individual Women Winners:
1. Tia-Clair Toomey – 1154 points
Tia-Clair Toomey has proven to the the best in the world after winning the 2018 CrossFit Games and being crowned the Fittest Woman on Earth for her second consecutive year. She also placed Second Fittest on Earth at the 2015 and 2016 CrossFit Games. Tia had two event wins in the CrossFit Total, Madison Triplus and 12 top 10 event finishes at the 2018 CrossFit Games, winning by an impressive 64 points. Can Tia do it again, and will she become the first woman ever to win three consecutive championships in a row?
2. Laura Horvath – 1090 points
Hungary’s Laura Horvath is the 21 year old rookie who took the Games by absolute storm. She took second place overall among an impressive field of seasoned Games veterans. Laura missed qualifying for the CrossFit Games by two spots in 2016. She went on to place 11th at the 2017 Meridian Regional, and went head to head with top-ranked veteran Games athletes like Annie Thorisdottir at the Europe Regional, finishing second-place and finally earning her qualifying spot at the 2018 CrossFit Games.
Horvath’s debut at the CrossFit Games was highly anticipated, and she did not dissapoint. Winning three events, the Two-pull Stroke, The Battleground and edged out Tia-Clair Toomey to win Aeneas, which was the final event of the weekend. She took 12 top 10 event finishes and wore the leader’s jersey early on in the competition.
Horvath is officially the Second Fittest Woman on Earth and the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games Rookie of the Year. Will second year be the charm?
3. Katrin Davidsdottir – 1020 points
Iceland’s Katrin Davidsdottir has two CrossFit Games championships under her belt, winning the Fittest Woman on Earth 2015 and 2016. Katrin had a strong start, and a strong finish. She had two event wins in Fibonacci and Chaos, and picked up eight top 10 event finishes. She is as fierce, determined and fitter than ever before and we’re excited to see her battle it out for the number one spot on the podium at the 2019 CrossFit Games.
Fittest on Earth Individual Men Winners:
1. Mat Fraser – 1162 points
This is Mathew Fraser’s era. He’s scary good, and finished in first place, taking the title of Fittest Man on Earth for the third consecutive year. He had two event wins in Fibonacci and Aeneas, and picked up 11 top 10 event finishes.
His dominance in the sport of CrossFit is nothing less than remarkable, and he is one of the most measured and consistent CrossFit athletes of all time. His record of excellence and his championship streak has the potential to out run Veteran Rich Froning’s four consecutive first-place finishes from 2011 – 2014. Can he do it?
2. Patrick Vellner – 942 points
Patrick Vellner is a three time consecutive individual athlete at the CrossFit Games, taking third place on the podium at the 2016 and 2017 CrossFit Games. This year Pat secured one event win in Chaos, and seven top 10 event finishes to earn the title of Second Fittest Man on Earth.
Year after year Pat continues to strengthen his skills and prove that he is one of the most impressive CrossFit athletes of our time. He’s certainly one to watch in the 2019 CrossFit Games season, and we’re excited to see if he can step up to the plate again and give Mat a run for his money! Does Pat have what it takes to become the 2019 Fittest Man on Earth?
3. Lukas Högberg – 886 points
Sweden’s Lukas Högberg is a four-time CrossFit Games individual qualifier. He missed qualifying for the Games in 2017 by just a couple of points, breaking a three-year streak of appearances. He finished 23rd in 2014, 30th in 2015 and 14th in 2016.
This year, Lukas returned to the CrossFit Games and made his mark on the competition, securing one event win in the Two-stroke Pull and seven top 10 event finishes. Högberg showed the world that he earnt his spot on the podium, taking the title of Third Fittest Man on Earth and the 2018 Most Improved Award.
Congratulations to all 40 Individual Men and Women athletes that competed and gave it their all. You should be super proud of your accomplishments and all your hard work and efforts. We look forward to you coming back stronger than ever before in the 2019 CrossFit Games season.

Just got into crossfit several years ago. My kids are loving it too. We are amazed at the many tests of strength , endurance, and mental will these awesome people accomplish.
One thing though, better commentating and video feed on athletes during events would be very helpful to follow the leaders.
