Ko Lanta is off the west coast of Thailand, between Phi Phi Islands and the mainland. It is actually part of Krabi Province, most of which is on the mainland.
Living, working and CrossFitting on Ko Lanta was exactly what we wanted to do for one month. We were super excited there was a box on this 81 km tropical island, and couldn’t wait to check it out.
Fit On Lanta is super easy to locate, it’s on the main road (there’s only 1 main road around the entire island) on Long Beach. It’s across the road from Funky Monkey (a huge bar) and in the middle of a row of 8 shops. There’s two big tires out the front and a large FOL sign.

A drop in costs 500 baht per person, a 5 class pass is 2000 baht and a 10 class pass is 3000 baht. Cash only. All levels are most welcome and workouts are scaled to meet everyone’s level of fitness and CrossFit experience. Over time beginners will learn great technique through Robert’s expertise and valuable coaching. When progress is made athletes are able to scale up over time. You will always find many Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced athletes at Fit On Lanta.
Robert first coached CrossFit at Lanta Gym, well known for Muay Thai Boxing, and the only other gym that offers CrossFit on Ko Lanta. In October 2015 Robert decided to open his own box, and that is when Fit On Lanta was born. Robert is a great coach with a passion for crossfit, weightlifting and health. He loves helping people to feel good and to develop both mentally and physically. This guy will be sure to whip you into shape…. FAST!
The box is a decent size, two shop spaces combined. There’s roller doors which bring in alot of light and as much air available. There’s little to no breeze in the box, but there’s 2 ceiling fans and soon to be an industrial fan for more circulation. However, due to the warm weather all year round, be prepared to sweat your ass off! There is a bathroom which has a shower (or you could just jump on your scooter and cool off in the ocean about 3 minutes down the road) and doubles up as a change room. Towels provided. Bring plenty of water! Bottled water also available for purchase.
Because there’s only one bench at Fit On Lanta, there’s no bench presses in any classes. However all other olympic weightlifting is possible, along with all other CrossFit equipment you need to have a really great workout. Robert is a great coach who is great at programming and making the most out of the space and the equipment available. Warm-ups usually consisted of mobility, running, card games = EMOM, or Tabata workouts. The daily WOD was usually long, super challenging and a sweaty, fun time. Be prepared to work hard and sweat like a beast!
The box is opened 6 days a week, 3 classes per day Monday – Friday, 1 class on Saturday. There is an Open Gym in high season. Be sure to check out the website for the schedule.The community of Fit On Lanta is international and diverse, with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. This is what makes this box and this island especially unique, awesome and alot of fun.
Fit On Lanta is an awesome box and we can’t recommend it enough. It is hard not to instantly feel like a part of the community. Everyone we met here were from all around the world, alot of Europeans, and specifically Swedes! It was inspirational seeing so many people working hard to keep fit whilst traveling and living on the beautiful island of Ko Lanta. It can be super easy to just relax, play on the beach, drink pina coladas and party the nights away! Make sure you keep fit and WOD at Fit On Lanta, and say hi to Robert for us!
