CrossFit Chiang Mai, Thailand sounded reputable and a great box to join while living and working in Chiang Mai. The box is exactly that, plus it’s super central and easy to get to via any mode of transport.
We signed up for a one month unlimited membership. They only have one membership, which makes things easy, fees are due monthly and paid month to month. It’s unlimited so you can attend as many times a week as you like.
Cost is 2700 baht per person. If you’re joining as a couple, family or teacher they offer a discount and the price is 2500 baht per person. If you’re an experienced CrossFitter, they offer a drop in rate of 500 Baht or 1 week drop in rate of 1000 Baht. They take cash only.

Note: Forgive the strict handstand push-ups.. I know they weren’t perfect!
CrossFit Chiang Mai was the first CrossFit affiliate to open in Thailand when there were only a handful of CrossFit affiliates in Asia. Due to the warm climate all year round in Thailand, CrossFit Chiang Mai is designed to be open air. There’s a few fans, not many, so get ready to sweat it out and get your cool on about an hour post WOD! The box consists of a few shipping containers for storage, a translucent canopy to keep off the rain and let in light, and there’s woven bamboo walls to ensure great airflow. It’s a really well designed, large sized box. The outdoor area is massive, with plenty of room for lots of running, tire flips, farmers carry and prowlers. They also have a small rock-climbing wall to monkey around on pre or post WOD.
Due to the burning season we recommend you avoid Chiang Mai between the months of February – May. If your avid CrossFitters like us then this won’t stop you, but it will make working out extra uncomfortable. We all know that’s what CrossFit is all about, being uncomfortable, so this is just another test on your grit, grind and hustle. However, breathing in smoky air isn’t good for anyone, especially when breathing in fresh air is pretty much your best friend when you’re doing an intense workout. Apparently, sometimes the burning season gets so bad you can’t even see 100 metres in front of you. Just something to think about and keep in mind when planning to CrossFit in Chiang Mai.
The box has bathrooms, change rooms, two showers and hot water, just bring soap and a towel. They also have a water dispenser with filtered water so you can fill up your bottle of water for free. They also sell bottled water.
Being that Chiang Mai is a very international city, they hang a flag to represent each international member or visitor. They’ve got 40+ flags and counting!
The community of CrossFit Chiang Mai is international and diverse, with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. This is what makes this box especially interesting, awesome and fun.
We immediately felt at home when we arrived to this box, and loved everything about CrossFit Chiang Mai. We can’t recommend it enough. Special thanks to Monica the gym manager and trainer. Also Andrew, an awesome trainer and funny guy. (Warning: He doesn’t take no BS, so be prepared if you’re late you’re doing burpees!) Shout out to athlete Boom, the local star and creator of the Energy Boom Bars. Honestly, these bars are the best protein bars around and once you start you won’t stop. They are an absolute delight. Be sure to stock up on them while they’re available, as Boom is a busy girl and supplies do run out. Have fun at CrossFit Chiang Mai and say hi to the team for us!
