After working out today I had a light headache. The medical term is called an exertion headache. It wasn't bad. I would classify it as a light headache. Exertion Headache Log The workout was a modified EMOM. Every three minutes we did a round of: 20 Calories on Assault Bike 10 Bar Facing Burpees 5 Deadlifts @ 225 lbs. We did five rounds starting a new round every third minute. The exertion headache started just after I finished with the last deadlift at 13:00 hours and the pain was most pronounced while stretching. Stretches that involved lowering my head to ground level were the most painful. I was no longer experiencing the exertion headache at 12:00 hours. The duration was almost exactly one hour. The 2018 Dubai CrossFit Championship is a four-day CrossFit Inc. sanctioned competition held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from December 12th - 15th, 2018. It is also the first CrossFit sanctioned event of the CrossFit Games season, and the first competition to reward an elite individual man, woman and team a qualification to the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. In order to qualify and earn a spot in the finals at the Dubai CrossFit Championship, all athletes had to complete three workouts in a three week online competition. Then the top 37 male and female athletes, and 10 teams who successfully completed the online qualifier were invited to the finals. The Dubai CrossFit Championship consisted of 10 Events over 4 grueling days. The team events were similar to the individual events (seen below), but teams worked as pairs and in a relay format. What a shame we're seeing more and more CrossFit athletes in breach of the CrossFit drug testing policy. Thank you to CrossFit Inc. for expanding it's efforts and methods of testing each year. The 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games teams were stronger and more competitive than ever before! This year we saw all top three teams on the podium from the United States of America. Here’s a little about the first, second and third 2018 CrossFit Games Fittest Teams on Earth. CrossFit Mayhem Freedom - 900 points CrossFit Mayhem Freedom rose to stardom after four time CrossFit Games Individual champion Rich Froning, (owner of CrossFit Mayhem), retired from individual competition and joined his Mayhem team. They won back-to-back 2015 and 2016 CrossFit Games Fittest Team on Earth, and then took second place at the 2017 CrossFit Games. This will be their third championship win as the Fittest Team on Earth. What was also super cool is that we saw 6 different countries finishing on the Individual Men's and Women's podiums. There were not just beasts all round lurking in the Masters competition, but this year we saw five former individual CrossFit Games competitors in the 35-44 Women division. Samantha Briggs was a surprise competitor in the 35-39 Masters Women division after having to withdraw from Regional competition because she had to have surgery for a fractured joint and ruptured medial ligament in her elbow. However, before she had surgery she didn't just complete all four online qualifier workouts, but she was able to complete them all back to back IN THE SAME DAY! What happened at the Teens Age Group Online Qualifier (AGOQ)? These international youth and teens performed four workouts and were not only fantastic for their division, but some of the best across all divisions on the online qualifier. In the 14-15 year girls division Olivia Sulek won 3 of the 4 workouts in her division, and finished first on the podium by just one point over Lea Malo. These two will be ones to watch in Madison at the CrossFit Games. The 14-15 year boys division was a very different story, with Tudor Magda running away with the competition. Magda not only won all 4 qualifying events, but he also finished first in the Open. He is the only person in any division to do that. So far he's performed perfectly, can he be stopped, or will he have a home run at the 2018 CrossFit Games? Another battle between the 16-17 year girls division, with Haley Adams just 3 points in front of Kaela Stephano. What happened at the Pacific Regional? Reigning Fittest on Earth 2017 champion Tia-Clair Toomey edged out Kara Saunders for the first time at Regionals by just 30 points. Tia-Clair Toomey had an outstanding performance over the weekend and took first place in Event 1, 2 & 6 and second place in Event 3, 4 & 5. She also broke Event 6 record on the final day. Kara Saunders was hot on Tia-Clair's heels all weekend, taking first place in Event 4 & 5 and second place in Event 2 & 6. Kara also broke an Event 5 record on the final day. For the second straight year James Newbury runs away with the top spot on the leaderboard, dominating from the opening event at the Pacific Regional. He took first place in Event 1, 2 & 4, and second place in Event 5. He wins first place overall by 100 points.
